Dr. Stieg, along with our Office Manager, Joy, and Dr. Stieg's daughters
Megan (PA student at Nova Ft. Lauderdale) and Gretchen (medical student at
the University of Cincinnati) were part of a Florida Hospital SHARES mission
trip to the capital city of Misiones, Argentina. This was Dr. Stig's
25th mission trip - the second to Argentina to work with Argentinian plastic
surgeon, Dr. Augusto Abrile. Last year they worked together in Iguazu, and
Dr. Abrile has visited here in Orlando as well.

The SHARES team operated on 17 patients with major emphasis upon
education - Dr. Stieg worked closely with the newly appointed Misiones
craniofacial director (Dr. Rafael Olivier) as to surgical techniques in
cleft lip and palate repair -- especially the advanced techniques of repair
emphasizing anatomic repair recreating "normal" with the least possible scar
and interference with otherwise unaffected tissues (something that Dr. Stieg
has been able to develop given the many hundreds of cleft patients he has
treated over the last 25+ years).
